Latisha and Carlos decided on a smaller brunch wedding, allowing for a more intimate occasion surrounded by loved ones at Five Bridge Inn in Rehoboth, MA.

The Meet Cute: Talk about a cheesy love story: Both servers at the Cheesecake Factory, Carlos decided to take a chance and ask out his coworker, and Latisha, in turn, decided to take a chance on him. Their date at the Rooftop at the Providence G lasted more than six hours. “It felt like we knew each other,” Latisha recalls. “It’s a cliche saying, but when you know, you know. You know?”
The Engagement: Following eight years of watching and helping each other grow, the couple bought a house and had a son together, Carlos James. During a pre-Christmas brunch with their loved ones, “Carlos decided to do a toast to celebrate our families being together for the holidays. Or so I thought,” Latisha says. “Triumph” — a song that Carlos once promised Latisha would be their proposal song — began playing. “He was so emotional, he could barely spit it out,” she recalls. “He dropped to one knee and I replied ‘Obviously!’ The moment was so special as everyone toasted their flutes in the air, all while our one-year-old son was screaming in the background — a moment I’ll never forget.”
The Venue: Latisha and Carlos love themselves a good earthy vibe, and Five Bridge Inn, with its natural greenery and homey, rustic barn, fit the bill. “The venue was natural and luminous … just like our love!” Latisha says. She also praises the inn’s owner and venue coordinator for helping the couple to remain calm throughout the madness of planning and the day itself.
The Highlights: The big day was made even more memorable with its personal, intimate atmosphere. “We wrote our own vows, which we both found incredibly easy to do and it really made the ceremony momentous,” Latisha says. “Seeing each other so happy and in love made the wedding feel so right. And the vendors were amazing; they went above and beyond making the ambiance so romantic and beautiful.”
The Advice: “We highly recommend a smaller brunch wedding,” the couple says. “You get to have all the perks of a beautiful wedding for a fraction of the cost. Having a more intimate wedding allows you to splurge on the details, like an engraved ring box, the dress of your dreams, and all the other forever keepsakes!”
