How They Met

Like many couples, Dave and I met at work. I had been there for a few years before he started. In working together, we discovered that we had a lot in common (big New England sports fans, love of ’80s hair bands and ’90s hip hop) and a friendship naturally developed. However, it would be a few years before either of us realized that our connection could lead to more than just a great friendship.

The Proposal

We got engaged in April of 2020 … right at the beginning of the pandemic! I never longed for a monumental engagement event; rather something simple and intimate was my idea of a perfect way to get engaged. It was a few days after my birthday and Dave had let me know that he had planned a nice celebration. He cooked dinner and even made a birthday cake from scratch! We were sitting outside by our fire pit, listening to a playlist that he had put together, when he asked me if I recognized the songs that were playing. While I knew all of the songs, I did not know what was so significant about them. It was then that he told me that he had put together a playlist of songs from the various concerts that we had seen together. He told me that we were not really there to celebrate my birthday, but that we were there to celebrate something else, then he got down on one knee and proposed.
