The Meet-Cute

Jack and I met through a family friend of mine, Michael, who at the time I had not seen in probably about five to six years. He was back in town visiting from his college in Virginia on April vacation in 2017 and he reached out to me unexpectedly and asked if I wanted to join him at a friend’s fire. Not seeing him in so long, I thought it would be great to see him and get some time by the fire.
When I got to the fire, I remember chatting with Michael and just taking in my surroundings. I got into a conversation with one of his friends, Jack, who was hosting the event. We began talking about relationships. One of the things Jack said is how it’s okay to not have the same likes as your significant other, but as long as you have the same values. From that moment on, I knew I wanted to see him again.
From there we shared many sweet memories, one of my favorite being making him a whole batch of made-from-scratch chocolate cookies and bringing them to him on our official first date. The look at his face was absolutely priceless. It was then Jack says, that he know I was a keeper. ❤️

The Proposal

It was simple and sweet, just like Jack. We had a night planned out to our favorite local restaurant. I remember though that Jack was much more giddy than usual. He was extra adamant that I wore something that I loved and just kept looking over and smiling at me every two seconds. We got home from dinner and were sitting out on our front deck. He then started playing one of our favorite songs to listen to together, “Love Your Love the Most” by Eric Church. He then said a few words about how I already know that I’m his best friend, and that he could have never imagined being with a girl like me, and he got down on one knee and asked me to marry him. Most of this was a blur, my emotions clearly were all over the place!
I then through tears turned and asked him who else knew about this. No sooner I say that and a line of cars come up the hill and to our apartment, and everyone comes to congratulate us. Being able to celebrate with my closest friends and family was just the icing on the cake. I couldn’t have asked for a better night.
