How We Met
We met online in 2016 and were talking for a few months. I was working overnights at an animal clinic, so my schedule was very weird. He had asked me out a few times, but it was hard to coordinate with my schedule. We finally were able to get together for our first date on July 2, 2017, when my schedule was changed for the better. In between that time, we had communicated and talked via Snapchat and Facebook. We decided to meet at Foxwoods Resort Casino for dinner and to hang out—he made reservations for the Sugar Factory (which was new at the time). We met for dinner and enjoyed each other’s company. The following week we hung out every day and did various things like go to the beach and watch fireworks, visit the aquarium and so on. We decided to make it official on July 6, 2017. Gary has a show/race car that we started building when we first started dating and continue to build to this day. We both have a love for cars so it is something that brings us together as a couple. Since then, we have traveled in and out of the country to various places on vacation and plan to do more in the future.
Our Proposal Story
On September 27, 2019, I had no idea that a proposal was coming. In fact, everyone knew about it but me! (Even my mom who cannot keep a secret!) We had been dating for almost two and a half years and we decided to visit a cafe in London called EL&N. The cafe had a new thing at the time called ‘selfie cappuccinos’ where you could put a picture on a cappuccino. It was very cool and we were all interested in doing one for the experience. When we got there with his cousin, Gary asked me to pick out a photo to put on my cappuccino. Meanwhile, he showed me that he was going to do one of his show car (typical car guy!). It was busy and we had to wait a bit, but the hostess eventually came by and told us there was a small table we could check out. Gary’s cousin went to look at the table and on the way she let the hostess know what was about to go down. She also asked if the cappuccino machine was working—luckily it was! We sat down and while I was looking at the menu trying to see which dessert I was going to try, I noticed Gary and his cousin go up to the machine to order the cappuccinos, but I did not think anything of it. He came back and just said he had ordered the cappuccinos. A few moments later, the waitress put the cappuccino with the picture that I wanted in front of me, and then another one in front of Gary—but I didn’t look at it. His cousin noticed and said, “Look! Doesn’t his cappuccino look cute?” I finally looked up and saw that the cappuccino said, “Will you marry me?” I said, “Are you serious?” Then he got down on one knee and I lost it. I was crying and his cousin said, “Answer him!” I was too busy crying so I nodded my head yes and the whole cafe clapped! They even had their Instagram girl there to capture the whole moment. It was a day I will never forget!
