Cassandra Shottek of Attleborro, MA, and Andrew Harrington of Salem, MA, are set to wed October 23, 2021 at the Publick House in Sturbridge, MA.
How We Met
Andrew and I met in the most magical way possible… Through the late Violet, our black lab who recently crossed over the rainbow bridge. Andrew and I were both single, living in two separate apartment buildings in Attleboro, MA. He ended up there by chance—his friend owned his building. I ended up there after finding it on a rental website. Once moved in, we each started spending more time outside, which eventually led to a beautiful, playful black lab running over my way. All I could think was, “How cute!” until I looked beyond and saw this handsome man running after her, who ended up being the man of my dreams. The other apartment tenants knew Andrew and introduced us. Over the next couple of weeks we got to know each other and, as they say, the rest is history! Thank you Violet!
Our Proposal Story
Back to present day, Andrew and I have been dating for three years now. We have since purchased a home together. The day of our engagement was December 31st, 2020…New Years Eve! We invited our friends over for a NYE gathering. Andrew was adamant that he held a toast. He is not the toast type of guy, so I thought maybe he was just spicing things up. Well, little did I know, he had a ring in his pocket. He started the toast and ended it with, “Here’s to new last names,” and got down on one knee. As the night went on, we noticed our dog Violet was not feeling well. Her symptoms progressed very quickly as the weeks went on. We went through a lot with trying to find a diagnosis. No such luck. Violet crossed over the rainbow bridge eighteen days after our engagement. Andrew and I think Violet knew her job was done. She found him the love of his life and she felt her time was up. As hard as it was to go through losing a pet, Violet brought us together and we are so thankful for her.
