Brianna Pfautz of Barnstable, Massachusetts, and Stephen Dewitt of Conesville, New York, are set to wed July 2, 2021 at Camp Kiwanee in Hanson, Massachusetts.
How We Met
Stephen and I met through our church, although everyone loves to joke that my dad set us up. In the spring of 2018, our church was in the middle of a building project and Stephen met my dad at a work night. My dad is always inviting people to go out on the boat for fishing trips, so him and Stephen started fishing together around that same time. Meanwhile, I was finishing up my senior year of college and came home for a weekend before graduation. My dad invited Stephen to come up and meet the family one night after fishing, so I ended up meeting Stephen in my kitchen while wearing my pajamas. Whoever said you have to go out to meet people was dead wrong in our case! A few months later I was invited over to his house for a game night and the rest is history!
Our Proposal Story
On the 4th of July, my family, Stephen, and I were going out in the boat in Barnstable Harbor to celebrate. We spent most of the day on a sandbar relaxing, grilling and playing corn hole. As the tide was coming in over the bar and the sun was setting, we started loading up the boat to head home. The lighting was gorgeous and we decided to take some pictures before we left. As we finished up, Stephen turned to me and got down on one knee to ask me to spend forever with him. Then, as if the proposal itself wasn’t magical enough, the fireworks surrounding the harbor soon after made the night even more of a fairytale. It really was the most special day surrounded by my favorite people and full of love.
