Where are you both from and how did you meet?
Jason is from Cranston and Providence and Brittany is from Cranston. We met at a job we both worked at years ago and then reconnected years later.
How did you get engaged?
We were together four years before we got engaged. Jason proposed on Valentine’s Day followed by a nice romantic dinner at Capriccio in Providence.
What were your favorite and least favorite parts of planning?
Favorite parts of planning the wedding was meeting and getting to know all of our great vendors. Least favorite part of planning was making the seating chart!
How did you come up with the theme?
I already had a theme in mind of colors through something I saw on Pinterest. And then where do I begin with the skulls… I have a little obsession with skulls, I have for a long time, I don’t know why! I love edgy and dark stuff like Halloween. If I had had the extra money to spare, I may have even changed into a black dress for the reception! But I love my bling, so why not a little of both? Just a splash so I wouldn’t scare the crowd away! Plus, it’s more my thing than Jason’s. So, I added a touch in a more elegant/fun way, I guess. My matron of honor surprised me with the shoes, actually, it was amazing — she knows me so well! And then Adam from Dual Edge actually wore a nice white button down shirt that had little baby skulls on it that you couldn’t see unless you were close and really focused In honor of me — it was cute!
As for the signs, I actually got them off of Etsy! I LOVE Etsy for wedding stuff. I did sooooo much through Etsy and it was so easy, convenient and you can really find some amazing deals! It’s great because you can communicate with the sellers before you purchase to make sure it’s what you’re looking for. Especially nowadays, it’s nice and easy because you can just do it right through the app.
How did you come across Dual Edge Photography?
I came across Dual Edge through a friend of mine who is friendly with them. She highly recommended them.
How about Kirkbrae?
We found out about Kirkbrae through a client of mine who got married there a year earlier than our wedding.
What were each of you thinking as Brittany walked down the aisle?
Jason: What was going through my mind as Brittany walked down the aisle first was, ‘Please don’t faint!’ Second was, ‘Wow, she looks amazing!’ And last was just pure excitement to know that I am finally going to marry my true love.
Brittany: As I was walking down the aisle, I was thinking, ‘Don’t trip on your dress!’ But also how happy and excited I was that the big day was finally here and that I get to marry my best friend, the love of my life.
What made you guys laugh during the ceremony?
During the ring exchange our officiant handed Jason the ring and Jason dropped it! Which made everyone and ourselves laugh. It was a good change of pace to help the serious/nervousness!
Tell us about your portraits.
It was so fun and awesome to play with smoke bombs we definitely had some laughs and also made for some really cool pictures!
What was your first dance song?
Our first dance song was “This I Promise You” by NSYNC. We picked it because it makes us think of our love. We played that song from when we first met so it was only appropriate!
Tell us about the memorial you put together.
We put together a memorial for our loved ones that passed away that was very special to us. Especially because a few months before the wedding, we happened to lose my grandmother and his uncle. It was hard, but nice to have pictures of all of our deceased family members to have them there in our hearts.
Did any of your vendors standout in particular?
This is a tough one! All of our vendors were extremely awesome at what they do and impressive. Dual Edge‘s style and pictures really impressed us on top of being so much fun to work with as a couple too! Our florist at Golden Gates, Jay, came to the hotel kneeled down to deliver my absolutely beautiful bouquet, which was so sweet! Our videographer, Mike, and his team made such an amazing video that lets us relive the moment forever! Tiffany at Kirkbrae was so organized and made us feel stress-free! Our DJ, Music Machine, kept us up dancing all night that we extended the night. Bob, our officiant, was phenomenal. He was so funny, made us so comfortable while having to speak in front of all these people! We have nothing but awesome things to say about all of our vendors. We couldn’t be any happier with the way everything turned out!
What was each of your favorite moments from that day?
Jason: My favorite moment of the day was finally being married to Brittany! And having my grandmother, Evelyn Cianci, who is ninety-two years old, there to watch. And having all of my friends and family there having a good time.
A few of my favorite moments was I was finally marrying Jason and I couldn’t believe the day I was planning for over a year was finally here! Then I surprised Jason with one of our favorite songs that I walked down the aisle too! My mother surprised me with a lock of a picture of my grandmother and I who recently passed away, it was very emotional but beautiful. I was able to hang from my bouquet. Also having my father daughter dance with my father who almost passed away unexpectedly the month before our wedding. It was very emotional but such a blessing!
What advice do you have for recently engaged couples?
Work as a team, stay within your means and don’t stress or worry on the big day because everything will turn out beautifully and the vendors will be there to help you out. Enjoy the road until that day, all the planning and pulling things together because it goes by in the blink of an eye.
How is married life treating you?
Married life is awesome and happily ever after!
