Erin Devlin of Taunton, Massachusetts and Sean Carney of Cumberland, Rhode Island are set to wed October 10, 2020 at Camp Hoffman.
How We Met
It was 2012 and Erin was at a party with her college friends from URI who happened to be high school friends of Sean’s. A fateful game of beer pong where the two were on opposite teams lead to a conversation that lasted until t three in the morning. Sean won both the game and Erin’s heart that night! Two months and many more long conversations later, Sean and Erin went on their first official date at Ocean Mist in Wakefield, Rhode Island, where they laughed over drinks and later took a walk on the beach. They’ve barely spent any time apart since and spend as much time at the beach as possible.
Our Proposal Story
After spending a weekend in Connecticut to celebrate their seven-year anniversary in September 2019, Sean had a seemingly spontaneous idea to stop at the beach where they had their first date on the way home. It was an unusually sunny and warm late-September day. Little did Erin know, Sean had a vintage opal engagement ring from the ’30s in his swim trunks’ pocket! Sean asked Erin to take a walk as they always did on their beach trips. On the way back to the blanket, as the waves peacefully crashed around, Sean got on one knee and proposed to Erin who gleefully accepted! The couple went to the Ocean Mist to celebrate just the two of them over drinks, just like their first date.
