Alexis Manchester and Jason Solis of New Bedford, Massachusetts are set to wed on October 17, 2020 at Independence Harbor.
How We Met
Jason and I met at Keith Middle School in the 7th grade. I met him through my best friend and we had some classes together. I fell in love with him the moment I laid eyes on him and knew I could be with him forever. At the time, we became best friends instantly. I ended up telling him how I felt, but he didn’t feel the same way because we were best friends. After chasing him for so many years I finally got over that I couldn’t have the boy I loved. He ended up moving to Marlborough, Massachusetts at the end of our freshmen year and it put a damper on our friendship. We remained in contact, but the bond was fading. Then, on Christmas Eve in 2013, he randomly texted me telling me how he really felt about me, but was scared to show his feelings. We went to New York in February of 2014 and he asked me to be his girlfriend. Our love has been strong ever since and now we are going on 5 years and we brought a beautiful baby boy into this world in July of 2016.
Our Proposal Story
I found out I was pregnant unexpectedly and we weren’t ready to be parents. We had so much going on in our lives and we were so scared when I found out, but we were secretly happy. February 16, 2016 I was about 5 months pregnant and it was our 2 year anniversary. He told me we were going to do a pregnancy photo shoot at his job in the mall. When we got there, we ended up taking the photos, but then he had a chalkboard that I couldn’t read because he was holding it a foot in front of me and I was holding baby shoes on my belly for the picture. I thought he had written something for our son for the picture. After the picture was taken, the photographer told him to turn around and show me. He started going down on one knee and the chalkboard said, “Will you marry me?” He pulled the ring out and put it on my finger. I couldn’t stop crying because I was so happy and also so emotional. My heart was completed because I am going to marry my best friend. Come to find out, it was an engagement shoot and some of our family was hiding and recording the whole thing. They came out and cheered and gave us balloons and a card. It was the best surprise I could have asked for. I always knew he was the one and how much becoming a dad meant to him. I am beyond blessed to have a man like him and the love he has for me and now our son.
