Colleen Riley of Barrington and Sean Thompson of Brooklyn, NY, are set to wed on October 27, 2018 at the Atlantic Resort Newport.

How We Met

We met through a mutual friend who attended URI with the bride-to-be and grad school with the groom-to-be! After about a year of being friends in the same circle and both living on the East Side of Providence, Sean asked Colleen on a date. From the first date (that included week-long clues and surprise) they had an unforgettable night laughing together. The couple was later able to go back to where it first began, at Waterman Grille, to take some of their engagement photos.

Our Proposal Story

Newport has always been a very special place to Colleen. Both her parents grew up there, got married there, and have since returned to retire. Knowing how special this place was, Sean planned a romantic dinner at Castle Hill the night before her 30th birthday. After the question was popped, originally with a ring pop which was an inside joke, the couple continued the celebration at a surprise engagement and 30th birthday at a Newport Polo match the next day. The couple began what has been an ongoing celebration of the upcoming wedding ever since!
