Things happen and somehow, someway, the universe pulls you towards one, specific person. Call it luck, call it faith or destiny, but people who are meant to be together meet for a reason. It comes out of the blue, when you’re least expecting it. Stories form from unforgettable little moments and love follows. It’s not about being at the right place at the right time, it just happens—and that’s exactly what happened with Meghan and Mike.

How did you two meet?
We met two years prior on St. Patrick’s Day. We like to think we’re pretty lucky.
How long were you together before the engagement? Did you know you were being proposed to?
We dated for two years before we got engaged. I had absolutely no idea that Mike was planning on proposing when he did. He’s always been good at surprising me and this was no exception. He proposed exactly a year before our wedding. We were walking through the Pawtuxet village park one night when I saw a mountain of glowing carved pumpkins that said: “Will you marry me Meg?” It was perfect. Of course, when we first walked up and I started reading the pumpkins I immediately went on to ask, “Who is Meg?” That’s how much I wasn’t expecting it.
Hey Mike, can you tell us how you felt in this photo?
Mike: I felt extremely lucky. This was the first moment in the day’s events and chaos, when time really slowed down. I was able to see my beautiful bride walking down the aisle and realized just how lucky we were to have each other and our beautiful daughter.
How would you describe the theme of your wedding? We love the color palette you picked!
We were having a fall wedding but definitely did not want the typical fall wedding theme. We tried having aspects of our wedding fit the beautiful historic venue, while also showing off our personalities. End of summer wild flower colors ruled our color palette. We also threw in pops of nautical and vintage elements to fit the venue.
Who’s this little cutie? We love her dress!
This little cutie is our daughter Riley. She was 6 months at the time of the wedding.
Can you describe this moment for us?
We love this picture! The sun was just starting to set. It was one of the last pictures we took before heading into our reception. This was definitely one of those perfect moment pictures.
What was your first dance song? Is there any meaning behind it?
Our first dance song was “Home” by Edward Sharpe and the Magnetic Zeros. We love cooking together and listening to music and this song would always come on. So when it was time to pick a first dance song we both knew this was the one.
What was on the menu?
Our food was excellent! We had multiple passed hor d’oeuvres to start. Our favorites were the lobster salad canapes. For dinner we had a make your own pasta station with just about anything you could possibly think of to mix in. We also had amazing grilled beef tenderloin and roasted salmon.
Was it the wedding of your dreams?
Of course! The weather was perfect for late September, and with all of our family and friends present we couldn’t have been happier with how our wedding came together.
What was your favorite moment from this day?
We have two favorite moments from the day. The first would be walking into our reception. I think that’s when it all really hit us that we were married. Just seeing the reception space set up and all of our guests, that’s when everything came together for us. Our second favorite moment would be when Mike walked down the aisle holding our daughter Riley. It was one of the sweetest moments of the whole day. We like to joke now, that for her wedding, he will have to hold her to walk her down the aisle. Like he did at our wedding.
Do you have any advice for future brides and grooms?
Be sure to give yourself plenty of time to plan for the big day. No matter how stressful the process may seem, think about how wonderful the end result will be.
