This time around we had a very busy bride on our hands: major props to Jessie for working a full time job by day and completing her Master’s Degree by night (not to mention enjoying what little free time she does have being a happy newlywed)! So while scheduling a time to chat seemed near impossible, we just couldn’t let the other-worldly decor sprinkled throughout this wedding at the New Bedford Whaling Museum slip us by. Luckily, Kathleen Sheirdan, who pulled double duty as mother of the bride and wedding planner (we’d say a second set of props is also warranted here), was able to fill in some of the details for us about how this magical day all came together last fall. Much like the gorgeous pearl bracelet pictured above, things came full circle for Jessie and Kevin: Five years after they were introduced to one another by mutual friends, Kevin proposed at what Jessie thought was a birthday party for him, surrounded by all of their closest (mutual) friends and family members.
The ring that got the “yes”? A stunning halo diamond from M.R.T. Jewelers.
“Since I am an event planner, I knew I would be handling all planning aspects as soon as I heard the news,” says Kathleen. “Jessie was very much a hands-off bride. She really just wanted a say in her dress and flowers only. She was very funny, she didn’t even go for the cake tasting. Our cake designer even made the comment that she had never experienced a situation where the bride wasn’t present to pick out the cake.” So just how do you thank your mother slash wedding planner extraordinaire for pulling off such an amazing day? Gifting her a personal, beautifully embroidered handkerchief is certainly a good start.
Jon Orton Flowers and Events did an amazing job, as always, of matching the flowers to the vibrant, jewel-colored palette.
Jessie’s cousin’s daughter, Adriana, was almost too cute to handle in her flower girl dress from Ana’s Bridal.
See what we mean? Other-worldy. We’re also absolutely adoring the family-style dinner trend we’ve noticed popping up at many a reception this past year. “I had recently done a wedding at Castle Hill where the bride and groom utilized the same setup,” says Kathleen. “I loved it and showed my daughter and she fell in love also.”
