About a week ago, I attended a beautiful bridal shower, in my honor, at the Chapel Grille in Cranston. I was so thankful that family and friends were able to attend. It was very difficult for me to stay out of the planning, but they managed to keep all the details a secret with the exception of the date. Although there were a few close calls!
When I arrived everything was beautiful. The color scheme was black, white and turquoise, which is the color scheme Josh and I have been using in the renovations of our new home. In fact, many of the items we registered for are turquoise like the pots and pans, which my bridesmaids generously gifted to me.
My mother knows how much I enjoy when all of the paper products are matching and cohesive, which is evident in the planning for my wedding. The motif for my bridal shower was a damask print and everything matched including the invitations, place cards, centerpieces and table numbers. The favors, compact mirrors, even had a matching print!
The centerpieces were filled with many of the flowers I wanted for the wedding, but cannot have because they are not in season and the August heat would wilt them instantly. However, I was lucky that they are all in season for June. They were pink peonies, white nigella damascena and ranunculus. What I think everyone was most impressed with were the giant magnolia flowers that sadly, once cut, only last for a day. My aunt has a tree in her backyard and shared that my uncle had to get up on the roof that morning to secure the best blooms! They also found turquoise bowls for each of the arrangements so in the end we were gifted with the twelve bowls as a fun accent to our white dinnerware.
I had a fun time opening the many generous gifts given to Josh and I to start our new home together. I was actually quite impressed that many guests even wrapped their gifts to match the color scheme! My bridesmaids were very helpful in keeping track of all the gifts and who gave them, as well as fashioning me a bow hat, which I don’t know if I’ve forgiven them for just yet!
It was such a wonderful day celebrating our upcoming nuptials and I was so thankful for everyone’s gifts that we will treasure for years to come in our home. Now I’m off to write my thank you notes!
