Not even rain could tarnish this Aisle Say Blogger’s perfect wedding day in Northern Rhode Island.
Courtney and chuck did not want rain on their wedding day. After consulting historical weather patterns in the Farmers’ Almanac, the pair finally decided on March 21. “It hasn’t rained, or even had any inkling of precipitation, on March 21 in the last thirteen years,” Courtney wrote in a 2014 blog for engagedri.com. “I’m fairly confident that it won’t be raining when I walk down the aisle.”
Most brides and grooms will tell you that there are some things you just can’t control, and Courtney discovered that weather is one of them. “It rained, but whatever,” she says. “It’s supposed to be lucky if it rains on your wedding day.”
Of course, the rain was not the day’s only memorable moment. She distinctly remembers walking down the aisle arm-in-arm with her dad, both of them laughing, and the love that swelled in her when her father embraced Chuck at the altar. There are lots of other things, though, that she doesn’t remember.
“Wedding days are weird,” she says. “Everyone tells you to take a second and try to absorb it all. I knew that going in, but now, looking back, it’s so true. All of a sudden the lights were coming on and it was over.”
