Tell us how you met: My fiancé and I met during our sophomore year in college at Roger Williams University in Bristol, RI. We were in the same political theory class. He was a know-it-all and took it upon himself to correct the professor often. I spent hours studying, he spent twenty minutes. I would get an A-, he would get a 100% PLUS the bonus. He went out every weekend, I often stayed in. Needless to say, I was not exactly smitten. I dated here and there but there was no one I took too seriously. During that year, Francesco asked me on several dates. I always turned him down. He wasn’t serious about, well, anything, and I thought he was immature. Fast forward two years to our senior year. We were at the same party and he asked me out to dinner. I figured, why not? That weekend, we went to dinner at one of my favorite restaurants in Bristol. At the risk of sounding cliché, the rest is history. We were inseparable. We went out together every weekend. Studied together every week. I knew things were getting serious when he told me he had decided not to apply to law schools in CA because “it would be too far away.” I told him I didn’t want him to worry about us and that he should apply wherever he wanted to go. We didn’t discuss it again because we had only been together a couple of months and it was awkward to bring up at such an early stage in our relationship. Deep down, I was worried about what would happen if he had to move across the country. As it turns out, he never applied to schools far away. He was accepted at BU Law to begin the fall after our college graduation. We moved to Boston together and the following year I started working toward a masters in healthcare administration at Tufts School of Medicine, not far from BU Law. To say that grad school and law school at the same time was difficult is an understatement. We were living off loans, overtired and over worked. And in that time, our love just grew and grew. We built each other up. He encouraged me to work harder and I always did my best to boost his confidence since he was in such a competitive law school environment. Shortly after moving in together, we knew we were in it for the long haul. Another cliché, but it really is true that when you know, you just know. He was everything and more than I had ever wanted. I found myself going above and beyond to make him happy. We knew we’d get engaged as soon as we stopped eating tacos and ramen every night for dinner (a.k.a had an actual income). We both graduated in May of 2014, got jobs, and moved back to our beloved RI! Before moving back, Francesco lured me to downtown Providence under the guise of having dinner with his boss. It was absolutely freezing cold out and I was power walking over college bridge toward Hemenways (where I thought we were going for dinner) and Francesco was going on and on about all of the reasons he loves me, etc. All I was thinking was that it was freezing cold outside! Finally, right after we crossed the bridge and were in the park, he got on one knee and asked me to be his forever. Of course I cried (: It was so perfect. Shortly after, we bought a house in Providence, and in true RI form, you can see the house my fiancé grew up in from our house. Thanks for reading!
