Picking our save-the-dates from hundreds of stationery options.
By Grace O’Neil
If you’re approaching the eight- to six-month window before your wedding date, it’s time to order your first piece of wedding stationery: save-the-dates.
When I first began my search online, I quickly realized how many websites and vendors there were to choose from. I scrolled through what seemed like endless pages of options on VistaPrint, Wedding Paper Divas and Etsy without anything in particular catching my eye. Finally, I stumbled upon Minted, where I was immediately impressed by the top quality look of the products.
In browsing Minted’s website, I learned that the business was founded on a unique concept. The company acquires its work through open challenges, where anyone can submit a design for consideration. This creates a win-win situation — artists get great exposure while customers get to choose from a variety of designs that may have not made it onto the market.
Because I knew I wanted to incorporate a photograph from our engagement session, I found the ‘Find it Fast’ option particularly helpful. You simply upload an image and can view how it looks in multiple invitation templates at once. Once you’ve decided on a specific design, there are tons of options to customize your stationery from font to paper type and even slip-in liners.
Another bonus is that for no additional charge, Minted will print your recipient addresses on your guest envelopes. This is a huge time saver and ties together the design of your stationery while giving your invitation an elegant look.
We received our save-the-dates in the mail quickly after we ordered them and love the way they came out. Above is a picture of our ‘Meet in the Middle’ design with a classic frame edge. We opted for the signature paper, which has a thick cotton texture.
If you aren’t using a photograph, have no fear: There are lots of beautiful designs to pick from. Here are some other favorites (pictured l-r): Wildflower Frame, Cottage Florals and Ivory Details, all from Minted.com.
If shopping through pages of choices doesn’t sound appealing, or you’re torn about what design to pick, you can take advantage of Minted’s ten free wedding samples. I have a feeling you’ll be glad you did.
