Having met while interning for the URI athletics department, it was only natural for Nick and Renee to incorporate two themes into their big day: their love of sports (he’s a pro baseball player for the St. Louis Cardinals) and the Ocean State. Another must for the pair? Fun. In the hours leading up to the ceremony, Nick snacked on junk food and played beer pong with his groomsmen while Renee and her bridesmaids blasted music and enjoyed morning mimosas. One of Renee’s favorite memories of the day, however, was a quieter, more intimate moment when she shared hors d’oeuvres and drinks alone with her new husband. “We had survived the ceremony and there were 190 people upstairs waiting to say hello to us,” she says. “We took a few minutes to ourselves before we would be pulled in a million different directions for the rest of the evening, and it was so nice to let things resonate for a minute. People love to tell you to slow down and enjoy everything, even if it’s only for a moment. That was our moment.”
