Welcome to the final ten months of our two-year engagement.
By Grace O’Neil
September 6, 2015: When Paul got down on one knee and popped the question during the summer of 2013, the date seemed perfect — plenty of time to plan a wedding, to soak up how over-the-moon we were about being engaged, to plot out all of the little details and, most importantly, to save money for the big day and our future together. More than a year later, the date is still perfect, but time is moving more quickly than ever. With just over ten months to go, there is so much left to do!
So, what have I gotten done in the past year?
- Asked my bridesmaids to be a part of our special day.
- Booked an amazing venue: The Towers in Narragansett.
- Celebrated the start of this new chapter with family and friends at our engagement party, hosted by a great friend, Nick Rabar, at his Avenue N Restaurant.
- Signed contracts with a handful of vendors (more on these in future posts).
- Had engagement photographs taken by the very talented Susan Sancomb.
- Spent more time than I will ever admit scouring Pinterest.
What’s left? A lot.
As an avid list-maker and someone who prides herself on being detail-oriented, my to-do list is looking more and more like a to-do novel. But, with the help of my mom (who has better taste than anyone I know), my two best friends (who are also getting married in the next year) and Paul (who can always help me take a step back and put things in perspective), I know everything will turn out even better than I can envision. I hope that my ideas and antics will help you in one way or another, and I can’t wait to share the ups and downs of this crazy roller coaster ride ahead.
