Let’s take a trip down memory lane.
This past weekend marked the sixth year anniversary of when I met Liam. Feeling a little emotional, I spent Saturday night strolling the town on the arm of someone I never expected to fall in love with. Liam and I met through mutual friends in college. One night (luckily) I decide to tag along with my roommate to actually get over a broken heart. Little did I know that sitting across from me was the love of my life.
That night I broke away from my friends and sneaked outside. Who else but Liam followed me out. He found me crying my eyes out on the back porch over some stupid boy. The kind soul that he is, Liam spent the night making me laugh and later walked me home. Noticing I wasn’t in the right state of mind to hand any guy my digits, he offered me his and went on his merry way. Two weeks passed and I still hadn’t called (I was nursing a broken heart after all). The ambitious man I’m now head-over-heals-for tracked me down on Facebook and (optimistically) asked me out. Without plans for the night, I said yes, and the rest is history. I never left his side after that night.
Love is crazy and unexpected, and it all happened so fast. A week later, I moved in. Six months later, I was pregnant with our little girl, Myla. It’s amazing how, when you least expect it, everything you ever wanted falls into your lap.
Last weekend walking through the mall, doing nothing but being young, we stopped into Kay Jewelers to be sized for our wedding bands. It all hit me as I tried on the ring I wanted to wear for the rest of my life: My world is so beautiful, and I owe it all to Liam. I am so blessed to have such a wonderful man who knew what he wanted and went for it. He found me and I am forever grateful. It was nice to reflect on how this all happened — to remember where we came from, the mountains we’ve climbed together, the obstacles we’ve overcome. We were made for each other and I can’t wait to make it forever.
