One of the first questions people bombard you with when they hear you’re getting married: What’s your color scheme? Seriously? I don’t even know how we are going to find the money for this whole thing, and all you can think about are colors?
This was tough decision. I’m a rainbow-lovin’ kind of gal. I don’t have a favorite color — why discriminate? Having to choose certain hues to reflect my love is just beyond me. I sat at my computer Googling what colors go with pink. I’m an artist — I should know this! — yet I looked to Google for the answers. I guess I was looking for one of those color palettes someone else had put together for what’s okay to use for a wedding. Man, I feel so silly taking a step back and really thinking about it now.
That’s when I decided: red and green. This is a Christmas wedding, after all. I’m not just having a simple shade of red or a complementing shade of green, I’m using all shades. Mixing and matching mints and hunters — and maybe even chartreuse — while adding lots of pinks, ivories and fun pops of red. Lastly will be my favorite: gold accents. These are the colors I love. Whether or not Google says they are okay together, they are to me and that’s what matters. Everyone else will just have to deal!
